FINAL TRYOUT... The Fire will host their final open tryout in preparation for the 2005 season this Saturday at 3:00 PM in Cardinal Stadium at the fairgrounds. The fee is $50 and the tryout is open to all positions. JUST WHAT YOUR SWEETHEART WANTS... If you are looking for a gift for your sweetheart why not get him or her Louisville Fire season tickets. Tickets start at just $49 and can be purchased by visiting www.louisvillefirefootball.com. Season ticket holders will once again receive free parking for the 2005 season and if you order four or more season tickets you will receive a free arena football.
AFL ON NBC... This week's AFL on NBC match-up will feature the Philadelphia Soul (1-1) and former Fire DS Arkee Thompson at the Nashville Kats (1-1) Sunday at 3:00 P.M. on WAVE-3. Thompson is currently leading the Soul in tackles with 14 and has one interception that he returned for a touchdown.
FIRE IN THE AFL... In addition to Arkee, the Fire has six more players currently in the AFL. Reigning af2 International Player of the Year Takuya Furutani is on the Philadelphia Soul's international training squad. Former Fire OL/DL Jason Ferguson is with the Dallas Desperados. Tremain Mack is with the San Jose Sabercats, Anthony Payton is on the Las Vegas Gladiators practice squad, Yuichi Wantanabe is on the New York Dragons international training squad and Jabir Walker is with the Colorado Crush. This is the highest total (7) of former Fire players ever in the AFL.
JIM STRADER HUNTING AND FISHING EXPO... Look for the Wildfires and maybe even an AXE appearance at this weekend's Jim Strader Hunting and Fishing Expo at the Kentucky International Convention Center. The Fire will be teaming up with Kentucky Hunter's for the Hungry this weekend stop by the Fire's booth to pick up a Fire car flag. LOUISVILLE FIRE FOOTBALL TO HOST 3rd ANNUAL WILDGAME COOKOFF; âKICKOFF' CELEBRATION AT STRADER SHOW
LOUISVILLE, KY -- Louisville Fire Football will host the 3rd Annual Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry Wild Game Cookoff & State Championship, July 9, 2005, at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center from 2 -6 pm before that evening's game. Celebrity judges include Maker's Mark President Bill Samuels, Jr. and former Miss America Heather French Henry.
A $10 admission automatically makes you a judge and includes a free ticket to that evening's Louisville Fire game. All proceeds benefit KHFH. This year's entry categories include; Individual, Club or Team, Meat Processor, Restaurant and Mission.
Louisville Fires' official cheerleaders will be on hand to celebrate this unique partnership at the KHFH exhibit (Booths 616-618) at this weekends Jim Strader Outdoor Show and Expo at the Kentucky International Convention Center in downtown Louisville. Avid KHFH supporter and celebrity hunter Harold Knight of Knight& Hale's Ultimate Hunting will make an appearance at the KHFH booth during the show.
Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry is a non-profit, charitable organization comprised of responsible hunters and conservationists who encourage Kentucky's hunters to harvest an additional deer each season. All processed meat is distributed by Kentucky Harvest to homeless shelters throughout the Commonwealth. KHFH provides more than a quarter-of-a-million meals to the hungry each year.
