Former Xplorer QB to Start Friday Against Dragons

Southaven, MS- Former Xplorer quarterback Rod Robinson will start in his first AFL game Friday Night in Las Vegas against the New York Dragons.

Robinson played in 14 games for Memphis in 2003. During that season he threw for 2,739 total yards on 217 completions. His 54 touchdowns that season helped the Xplorers make a run at the playoffs. Robinson also rushed for seven touchdowns on 25 yards.

The Las Vegas Gladiators opening day starter, Clint Dolezel, will be sidelined with a finger injury, granting Robinson the starting spot. The Gladiators are 1-1 on the young season. Last season Robinson converted 7 of 10 passes for 88 yards in seven games for the Gladiators

Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto coached Robinson in the 2003 season, and commented on the recent announcement, "We are very excited Rod Robinson is finally getting his first chance to start in the AFL."
