Windy City Bulls News Release
The Windy City Bulls, presented by BMO Harris Bank, the official G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, defeated the Northern Arizona Suns 109-95 on Saturday night.
Windy City opened the contest red hot from three-point range, knocking down eight shots from beyond the arc in the first quarter alone, including four from forward Tre'Darius McCallum.
The Bulls jumped out to a 21-3 lead in the early going, but the Suns rallied back to tie the game at 38-38 in the second frame behind a 22-12 advantage in points-in-the-paint for the half and a 25-13 lead in bench points.
Milton Doyle then took over in the closing minutes of the second quarter, hitting four threes and tallying 15 points, 4 assists and four rebounds in the first 24 minutes. McCallum ended the half with 12 points and four rebounds.
Leading the way for Northern Arizona was Phoenix Suns Assignment player Jalen Lecque with 11 points, seven assists and three rebounds.
Windy City led 55-45 at the break.
McCallum never cooled off from long distance in the second half and neither did the Bulls, opening the third quarter on a 15-5 run to grab a 70-50 lead.
The Suns were able to trim the lead to as little as seven in the fourth quarter, but Windy City ultimately cruised to victory behind a career-high eight made three-pointers from McCallum and a franchise record-tying 23 made threes as a team.
McCallum led all scorers with 26 points, eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Simi Shittu finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds on 9-for-16 shooting, and Doyle knocked down seven threes of his own to end with 21 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Heading up the scoring for Northern Arizona were Aaron Epps with 17 points and ten rebounds, and Lecque with 16 points and 12 assists.
Windy City (14-21) will play at home again tomorrow night at 5 p.m. as they welcome in the Lakeland Magic on Dog Night at Sears Centre Arena.
