
Blue Coats Acquire Dennis Clifford

WILMINGTON - The Delaware Blue Coats, the NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, announced today that the team has acquired Dennis Clifford from the Austin Spurs in exchange for a 2020 second-round draft pick. In a corresponding move, the team has waived Shizz Alston Jr.
Clifford (7-1, 260) most recently played with KK Igokea in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he appeared in nine games (eight starts). Clifford's previous international experience includes two seasons (2017-19) with ALBA Berlin in Germany. In 66 games (62 starts) during the 2017-18 campaign, he posted averages of 9.3 points and 4.7 rebounds in 22.0 minutes per game and went on to appear in 46 games with the club last season. The 27-year-old was a 2017 NBA G League All-Star with the Santa Cruz Warriors. In 38 contests (34 starts) with Santa Cruz during the 2016-17 G League season, he averaged 11.9 points and 8.1 rebounds with a .592 field goal percentage in 26.0 minutes per contest.
A Bridgewater, Massachusetts native, Clifford played his college basketball at Boston College from 2011-16. In 31 games (all starts) as a redshirt senior in 2015-16, he averaged 9.9 points and 7.3 rebounds in 27.5 minutes per game.
Alston Jr. appeared in 23 games this season with the Blue Coats, averaging 3.7 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 15.5 minutes per game.
Clifford, who will celebrate his 28th birthday next Saturday, will wear No. 42 for the Blue Coats.
