
Mayorson Single Gives Fisher Cats 10-inning win

Manchester, NH- Manny Mayorson singled home Ryan Klosterman in the bottom of the tenth inning as the Fisher Cats edged Altoona 6-5 Friday night before 5,072 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
With the game tied 5-5 in the tenth, Klosterman reached on an error by Curve shortstop Brandon Chaves. He went to second on a passed ball. After Rob Cosby was intentionally walked, Mayorson (2-for-6) singled to right field off reliever Dave Davidson (3-1), the RELCO Enlightening Play of the Game.
Jo Matumoto (3-3), the third Fisher Cat pitcher, pitched a scoreless tenth inning to earn the win. Jesse Carlson worked three shutout innings, striking out five, in a tremendous relief effort.
Altoona (61-55) opened a 4-0 lead in the first inning with a pair of bunt singles and a three-run homer by 3B Neil Walker off starter Kyle Yates. They added a sacrifice fly by Javier Guzman in the initial frame.
The Fisher Cats (60-58) scored three in the third inning on an RBI single by Juan Peralta and a two-RBI double for Ryan Patterson (3-for-5). They went ahead on Peralta's two-run homer in the fourth inning off Curve starter Luis Munoz.
Altoona had the tied game in the sixth inning. Brett Roneberg doubled and scored on a single by Brian Peterson (2-for-4).
The Fisher Cats moved to within 2 ½ games of second-place Portland in the Eastern League Northern Division standings after the Sea Dogs suffered an 8-3 loss to the Harrisburg Senators Friday night.
The Fisher Cats contineu the three-game series against the Curve Saturday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. Right-hander Ty Taubenheim (0-0, 0.00) takes the mound against Altoona left-hander Josh Shortslef (2-12, 4.79) at 7:05pm.
