Mayhem Push Win Streak to Five Games

MACON, GA- The Macon Mayhem travelled to Knoxville, TN to take on the Ice Bears in a battle for first place. The Mayhem were able to skate away with a 4-1 victory tonight.

The Mayhem started the scoring in the first, as Collin MacDonald scored on power play at the 19:11 mark. Jake Trask was given his fourth assist of the season on the goal. Macon would take a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

Macon was able to take a 2-0 lead early in the second period, as Stathis Soumelidis scored his second goal of the season 4:50 into the period. The Mayhem stretched their lead to 3-0 with 7:01 left in the second when John Siemer scored his fourth goal of the season. That lead would hold for the remainder of the period.

With 18:54 left in the third period, Macon's Jake Trask extended the lead to 4-0 off of an assist from Collin MacDonald. Knoxville's Doug Reid scored with 5:58 left in the game to make the score 4-1 in favor of Macon. After a crazy couple of minutes that included five different fighting majors, the Mayhem held on to win 4-1. The team will now travel to Evansville, IN to take on the Evansville Thunderbolts on Saturday and Sunday.

NOTABLE STATS

With the win, Macon moves to 6-1-1 and back into first place with 13 points. The Ice Bears fall to a tie for second with Huntsville at 12 points.

John Siemer picked up his 11th point of the season with his second period goal.

Jake Trask scored a goal, added an assist, and recorded his first fight of the year. John Siemer was also involved in his first fight of the season.

Collin MacDonald also scored a goal and recorded an assist. Dennis Sicard and Stephen Pierog also recorded assists in the game.

Garrett Bartus picked up his fourth win of the season, and he now has a goals against average of 2.34 and a save percentage of .924.

This five-game win streak matches their longest win streak in team history. They will try to win their sixth straight tomorrow against Evansville.
