Maybin leads Z's to win

Cameron Maybin ripped three hits and was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle in the Zephyrs 8-1 win over the Iowa Cubs in front of 5,301 at Principal Park. The win snapped a two game losing streak and the Zephyrs win the series taking three of five in Iowa. Brian Lawrence pitched six scoreless innings and earned his second win of the season for the Z's. Iowa starter J.R. Mathes is tied for the league lead in wins but suffered the loss pitching four innings and allowing five runs. The Zephyr pitching was looking for another shutout but a RBI single from Nate Spears in the seventh scored Iowa's lone run.

John Lindsey drilled a home run and drove home three runs for the Zephyrs. New Orleans out hit the Iowa Cubs 13-6 in the game. New Orleans is 3-2 on the 15 game roadtrip.

Game Notes: The Z's won the series in Iowa for the first time since September of 2005. The Zephyrs have not had a player hit for the cycle, since Barry Wesson in May of 2002. Willie Glen is expected to come off the disabled list on Wednesday and start at Omaha.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs open a six game series at Rosenblatt Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Z's will start RH Willie Glen against LH Dusty Hughes for Omaha. RADIO: AM 690 WIST
