Mayberry Named IL Batter Of Week

(Allentown, Pa.) -- Today, the International League named IronPigs' OF John Mayberry, Jr., Batter of the Week for April 12-18. In his six games, Mayberry batted .524-1-5 (11-21, 4 2B, 3B) -- leading the I.L. in AVG, OBP (.583) and runs scored (8) during the week.

The 26-year-old collected hits in all six games, starting the week going 5-7 with a 2B, 3B, 2 RBI and 3 R in Lehigh Valley's two-game series at Pawtucket. On Thursday, Mayberry hit his first home run of the season -- the 100th HR of his pro career. On Saturday, he tied single-game, franchise records with 3 2B and 4 R. In all, Mayberry is riding a Lehigh Valley season-high, eight-game hitting streak (13-30, .433-1-7, 4 2B, 3B, 10 R).

The Kansas City, Mo., native is now the third IronPigs all-time player to win an IL Batter of the Week award, joining Andy Tracy (a three-time winner since 2008) and Michael Taylor (August 10-16, 2009).

Durham' RHP Jeremy Hellickson was named I.L. Pitcher of the Week, going 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in 2 GS (14.0 ip, 8 h, 2 r, 2 er, 2 bb, 15 k).
