ICYMI: Keston Hiura hit a two-run home run in the second, Ryan Aguilar and Weston Wilson had ground rule doubles in the first, but reliever Chase Williams walked three in the ninth and gave up a walk-off hit to Jhonny Pereda as the Pelicans defeated the Mudcats 5-4 on Tuesday night in Myrtle Beach.

ABOUT THE LAST ONE: The Mudcats led 4-0 after the second, and were up 4-2 heading into the ninth before the Pelicans rallied back to win last night's game. It was Carolina's third walk-off loss in their last four games and fifth overall walk-off loss this season. It was also Carolina's fifth consecutive loss overall and fourth straight during the current six game road trip.

VS. MYRTLE BEACH: The Mudcats and Pelicans play game two of a three game series tonight at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The Pelicans lead the current three game series 1-0, while the clubs have split the overall season series 2-2. Tonight's game is also the fifth of 21 total meetings between the two teams this season.

MUDCATS STARTER: LHP Cam Roegner has the start for the Mudcats tonight in Myrtle Beach. Roegner leads the Carolina League in earned run average and is currently 2-0 with a 0.83 ERA over four starts so far this season. He has totaled 19 strikeouts against just six walks and has allowed just two earned runs over 21.2 innings pitched this season. Roegner has worked through the sixth inning three times, while also totaling three quality starts so far this year. He last pitched on April 26 where he earned his second win of the season after holding the Pelicans scoreless in 6.0 innings pitched (6 H, 3 SO).

OPP STARTER: RHP Tyson Miller heads to the mound for tonight's game two of three start against the Mudcats for Myrtle Beach. Miller is 2-2 with a 3.15 ERA with 22 strikeouts and seven walks over four starts and 20.0 innings this season. He last pitched on April 26 against the Mudcats where he pitched through 6.0 innings with just one unearned run allowed on two hits. He also took a no-hitter into fourth his last time out in Carolina.

STREAKING: Keston Hiura has hit safely in a season high four straight games and has three multi-hit games during that same span. He has also totaled at least one hit in six of his last seven games (11-for-28)... Weston Wilson has hit safely in six straight games and is batting .368/.400/1.000 (7-for-19, 5 R, 1 2B, 1 3B, 3 HR, 5 RBI) during the streak.

STRUGGLING LATE: Mudcats pitchers have combined to pitch to a 9.19 ERA (20 R, 16 ER, 19 BB, 14 SO) in the ninth inning so far this season. They have also pitched to a 6.88 ERA in the eighth and a 4.01 ERA in the seventh... The Carolina pitching staff owns a 3.37 ERA from the 1st through 5th innings this season.

P.O.W.: Weston Wilson was named the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week ending on April 29. Wilson hit .412/.500/.1.059 and led the Carolina League in OPS (1.559), slugging and home runs (3) during the last week of games running from April 23 through April 29... Ryan Aguilar also won the award the week prior for the week ending on April 22.

HITS AND Ks: The Carolina offense has totaled 55 more strikeouts than hits (249 SO, 194 H) so far this season. Since 1991, only the 2017 Mudcats and 2007 Mudcats finished a season with more strikeouts than hits. Carolina totaled 164 more strikeouts than hits last season (1,245 SO [franchise record], 1,081 H) and 70 more strikeouts than hits in 2007 (1,219 SO, 1,149 H).

WHERE THEY RANK: Cam Roegner (0.83) and Trey Supak (1.78) rank 1st and 6th respectively in lowest earned run average in the Carolina League this season... Ryan Aguilar is 5th in the CL in batting average (.321) and 3rd in OBP (.437)... Marcos Diplan leads the CL in most walks (17)... Chase Williams leads the CL in most games (11) and games finished (10)... Luis Aviles Jr. is 3rd in the CL in stolen bases (11)... Tucker Neuhaus is tied for 3rd in the CL in most strikeouts (34)... GOT HEEEM: Max McDowell leads MiLB catchers in most caught steals (15) and is tied for 5th in MiLB in caught stealing/stolen base efficiency (.500) for catchers with at least 15 attempts against... McDowell caught four base runners attempting to steal and picked off another at first on Opening Night, April 5 vs. Winston-Salem.

WALK THIS WAY: The Mudcats pitching staff has combined to walk a Carolina League and Minor League Baseball high 132 batters so far this season. Carolina is also second in MiLB in BB/9 (5.63) having walked 132 over 25 games and 211.2 innings this season. Only the Great Lakes Loons (Low-A, Midwest League) have a higher BB/9 (5.8) than the Mudcats so far this season (120 BB, 186.1 IP).

NO HITS, NO PROBLEM: Outfielder Rob Henry is currently 0-for-6, but owns a .533 OBP as he has walked seven times (1 R, 1 RBI, 2 SO, 1 SF, 1 HBP) in 15 plate appearances so far this season. According to SABR (since 1980) only Barry Bonds (1995) and Roberto Perez (2016) had similar starts to a season after each totaling eight walks before their first hit.
