Tonight the Mudcats send RHP Brandon Barker to the mound for the game two start against the visiting Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Barker was 2-3 with a 4.30 ERA over six starts with the Rome Braves before his transfer to Carolina. Barker last pitched on 5/9 against Greensboro in the South Atlantic League and allowed a season high six earned runs on eight hits. Those eight hits matched a season high for him as well. Opponents were batting .287 against Barker in the South Atlantic League. Over his six starts, Barker struck out 24 in 29.1 innings and walked 11. He was drafted by the Braves in the 16th round out of Mercer University and spent most of his rookie season with Rome in 2014. Barker and college teammate Chesny Young were both drafted out of Mercer last year. Young is currently an infielder with the Pelicans.
Today's game begins at 6:00 p.m. at Five County Stadium in Zebulon. The Mudcats pre game show will start at 5:45 p.m. and will on air on the Mudcats Radio Network.
