LAST TIME OUT: Two hits and three RBIs from 1B Nellie Rodriguez as well as a quality start from LHP Luis Lugo led Lynchburg to a series-opening win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks last night, 4-1...It marked the first Hillcats win in a Lugo start this year and the Hillcats' third straight victory overall...After an hour and two minute rain delay before the first pitch, Wilmington took the lead in the first on the strength of two hits and two walks...2B Ramon Torres started the game with a double down the left field line, 3B Mauricio Ramos walked, and 1B Frank Schwindel loaded the bases with a single to right...DH Robert Pehl pushed the first run across with a walk to make it 1-0 Blue Rocks...Lynchburg answered back in the fourth when CF Bradley Zimmer lined a ball over the second baseman and hustled into second with a one-out double...Nellie Rodriguez tied things up one batter later with a single to left field...Rodriguez later gave the Hillcats the lead in the sixth with a two-run double that scored RF Clint Frazier from second and Zimmer all the way from first to make it 3-1...Luis Lugo earned his first win of the season by holding Wilmington to one run on four hits while striking out five in six innings in his second start since coming off the Disabled List...The Hillcats weren't quite finished scoring after six, as Frazier knocked in SS Ivan Castillo with a sacrifice fly in the seventh...RHP Mason Radeke picked up his first save of the season and the second of his career with a scoreless ninth...

VS. WILMINGTON: Lynchburg is now 3-2 against Wilmington, which includes a four-game series split at Frawley Stadium last weekend and will meet 20 times total in 2015...Last year, the Hillcats took the season series, 13-7... The Carolina Mudcats, last year's high-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, went 5-14 against the Blue Rocks... INF JOE SEVER hit .375 with an RBI over six games last year and continued that success last weekend with a 7-for-15 series that included two doubles, a triple and a home run...His OPS is an astounding 1.433 against the Blue Rocks this year...SS IVAN CASTILLO is hitting .353 with two triples and three runs scored in four games...For Wilmington, 1B FRANK SCHWINDEL easily paces his club with a .474 average (9-for-19) with three doubles, a home run in five RBIs...

VS. LEFTIES: Lynchburg will face a left-hander in ERIC SKOGLUND tonight...The Hillcats have a significantly better average (.258 vs. .230) against lefties, but a far worse slugging percentage (.334 vs. .381)...The 'Cats also strike out at higher percentage when facing a southpaw (27.7 percent of ABs vs. 24.2 percent)...Ironically, LUIGI RODRIGUEZ, a former switch-hitter who only bats from the left side now, has the team's best average...RODRIGUEZ is hitting .394 with two doubles and five RBIs in 33 at-bats against left-handers...

SWING HARD IN CASE YOU HIT IT: When Lynchburg hits the ball, it tends to go a long way...Despite a seventh-best batting average and a league-high in strikeouts (8.1 per games), the Hillcats lead the league with 24 home runs and 430 total bases, are tied for the league lead with 12 triples, and are tied for second with 57 doubles...OF LUIGI RODRIGUEZ, 1B NELLIE RODRIGUEZ, and OF BRADLEY ZIMMER all have five home runs to join Myrtle Beach's JACOB ROGERS at the top of the charts...SS IVAN CASTILLO leads the circuit with five triples...

20 FOR 20: OF CLINT FRAZIER, who wears No. 20 and is also 20-years-old, is closing in on 20 consecutive games reaching base...The No. 3 prospect has reached in 19 straight, which matches Frederick 3B DREW DOSCH for the best mark on the circuit this season...If he reaches base tonight, he will be the first Hillcat to reach safely in 20 games in a row since CHRIS GARCIA had a 21-game on-base streak in May 2012...

SPEAKING OF STREAKS: INF JOE SEVER has been on a tear lately, currently boasting an eight-game hitting streak...Even more impressive, SEVER has at least one extra-base hit in each of those contests and three home runs in his last four games...During this span, SEVER has raised his season batting average from .203 to .277 and his slugging percentage from .281 to .489...Over his last 10 games, he is batting .371 with three home runs, a triple, four doubles and seven runs scored...

THIS DATE IN HISTORY: On May 16, 1939, the Cleveland Indians were part of a significant event in baseball history...The Indians defeated the Philadelphia Athletics, 8-3 in 10 innings, in the first night game in American League history...Hal Trosky hit a solo home run in the game, which was played in front of 15,109 fans at Shibe Park...

ICE THAT ARM QUICKLY: With a league-high four doubleheaders and five different pitchers on the Disabled List at some point this season, the Hillcats have been forced to rely on the bullpen a lot... RHPs ROBBIE AVILES, CASEY WEATHERS, DELVY FRANCISCO, and BEN HELLER all lead the league in appearances with 12 this year...
