Kansas City Mavericks News Release

WICHITA, Kan. - The Kansas City Mavericks' (9-2-1-0) seven-game win streak came to an end with a 4-0 setback at the hands of the Wichita Thunder (5-4-3-0) Friday night at INTRUST Bank Arena.

The Mavericks dictated play in the early running, running up an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal by the first media timeout of the contest. Wichita struck first in the game, though, Steven Iacobellis beating Ben Halford 7:31 into the game to jump on top in the opening frame.

The second period was all Wichita, the Thunder potting three goals to take a commanding 4-0 lead through 40 minutes of play. All three goals came over a span of just 3:36, two coming on the man-advantage, allowing the home team to take firm control of the game heading into the final period of play.

The teams played to a stalemate in the third, Wichita owning the advantage in shots on goal by a 15-12 margin but neither team able to find twine.

The Mavericks and Thunder conclude their weekend set in Wichita on Saturday, another 7:05 p.m. puck drop.
