Mavs Minutes
Dziurzynski Duo: The Dziurzynski brothers helped lead the way for Kansas City's win over Wichita on Saturday, each scoring a goal in regulation and David netting the winning goal in the fourth round of the shootout. The brothers have combined for 16 points on the year, each with eight, David leading in goals (6g, 2a) and Darian with more assists (5g, 3a).
Comeback Kids: The Mavericks erased a 3-1 third-period deficit in Saturday's win over Wichita, goals from Jared VanWormer and Darian Dziurzynski to push the game into overtime and ultimately a shootout.
Bouncing Back: The Mavericks are now 2-0 in games following a regulation loss, a 7-2 win over Indy on Oct. 27 and a 4-3 win over the Thunder on Saturday. The ability to stop one loss from turning into two is something that should bode well when the playoff race heats up and each point is magnified.
Familiar Foe: The Mavericks and Thunder face off for the fourth-straight game on Friday, a 7:05 p.m. puck drop at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. Kansas City enters the contest with a 3-1 record against the Thunder, a two-game edge in the Independence Cup series.
Mountain Climbers: The Mavericks have built their record largely against divisional foes, a key factor in the standings as each game represents a four-point swing against Mountain opponents. Through 12 divisional contests, Kansas City is 9-2-1-0 with wins over four of the six other members of the Mountain division.
