Mavericks to Celebrate "Hockey Weekend Across America"

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks will begin their celebration early for USA Hockey's "Hockey Weekend Across America" and the team will celebrate all week starting today. The Mavericks will cap off the week on Saturday, Feb. 16 when the team hosts the Allen Americans and the Mavericks will be wearing USA themed jerseys which will be auctioned off after the game to benefit Rainbow Center. See below for a list of all the promotions the Mavericks will run this week and enter for your chance to win two tickets to Friday's game against the Bloomington Blaze.

SOCIAL MEDIA JERSEY CONTEST - WIN TICKETS TO FRIDAY'S GAME!

Friday, Feb. 15 is wear your jersey day and in honor of that, the Mavericks are going to give away five pairs of tickets to Friday's game against the Blaze. To enter, fans must tweet or Facebook a picture of them in a hockey jersey around Kansas City. The top five pictures will be chosen. Fans can either tweet the picture using the hash tag #momavsjerseycontest or fans can post them on the Mavericks' Facebook page at Facebook.com/MissouriMavericksHockey. The winners will be chosen on Thursday, Feb. 14 at 3 p.m.

WEAR A JERSEY GET $5 OFF TO FRIDAY'S GAME

Fans can come to the Silverstein Eye Centers Box Office at Independence Events Center all week and get $5 off tickets to Friday's game just by wearing a hockey jersey. For those who are unable to make it to the box office, the Mavericks are also offering a Buy Three Get One Free special available online only through Ticketmaster.com.

STREET HOCKEY AT THE IEC - SATURDAY, FEB. 16 12-2PM

The Mavericks will host street hockey in the parking lot of the IEC from 12-2PM on Saturday. Children aged 10 and under are invited to play from 12-1pm and ages 11-15 are invited to play from 1-2pm. The games will be drop-in style in which all kids will have an equal chance to play and there will also be a shoot booth with help from special Mavericks guests and Mac. Kids are encouraged to bring their own equipment including helmets, and will play at their own risk. Hockey sticks will be provided to those without gear while they last.

USA JERSEY AUCTION BENEFITTING RAINBOW CENTER

To cap off the weekend's events, the Mavericks will wear USA themed jerseys in their game against the Allen Americans on Saturday night. The jerseys are very similar to USA Hockey's 1980 "Miracle on Ice" team, the last United States team to win a gold medal at the Olympics. There will be a live auction following the game benefitting Rainbow Center.
