INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI (March 21, 2016)- The Missouri Mavericks have teamed-up with area Long John Silver's and A&W restaurants this month as 'Community Wish Partners' to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri.

Tens of thousands of volunteers, donors, and supporters advance the Make-A-Wish Foundation vision to grant the wish of every child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. In the United States and its territories, on average, a wish is granted every 35 minutes. The first wish in Missouri was granted in 1983. The Missouri chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation serves all 115 counties in Missouri and 6 Kansas counties that are a part of the Metro Kansas City community. Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri has granted over 5,000 wishes since 1983.

"Our goal is to raise $5,000 this month through community donation boxes at participating area Long John Silver's and A&W restaurants to grant the wish of a Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri 'Wish Kid,'" said Teri Tapscott, Director of Sales & Marketing, Long John Silver's and A&W.

Fans are encouraged to visit participating restaurant locations (Merriam, Olathe, Leavenworth, Lawrence, Blue Springs, Liberty, Independence, Lee's Summit, Belton, and Kansas City) this month and donate to the cause. Additional fundraising incentives will be put on by each location.

The charitable campaign will be highlighted by appearances of Missouri Mavericks players and mascots at select restaurants on Tuesday, Mar. 29 and a post-game jersey auction on Saturday Apr. 2nd with proceeds benefitting Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri.

"The Mavericks are excited to be a part of this initiative and raise additional funds for Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri through our Chuck-A-Puck program on Apr. 2nd in addition to the post-game jersey auction," said Tim Vieira, Community Relations Manager for the Missouri Mavericks. "We also hope all of our fans will come out to see the Mavericks during their Mar. 29 appearances at local restaurants to support this local cause."

20% of all sales at participating Long John Silver's and A&W restaurants on Mar. 29 from 2:00p.m. 8:00p.m. will go directly towards the Mavs efforts with Long John Silver's/A&W to grant wishes through Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri.

The Mavericks warm-up jerseys, presented by Long John Silver's and A&W, have been worn before every home game and feature the team colors and logos of the Mavs' affiliates, the New York Islanders (NHL) and Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL). The jerseys will be auctioned-off in a live auction directly following the Missouri Mavericks home game on Saturday, Apr. 2 at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in sections 101 and 102.
