Kansas City Mavericks News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas - The Missouri Mavericks lost 4-3 in a shootout to the Texas Brahmas Friday night at NYTEX Sports Centre. Goals by Kris Hogg, Ed McGrane and John-Scott Dickson weren't enough as the Mavs dropped their first game in four contests. The Mavericks remain unbeaten in regulation in their last four games, and they will now travel across the Dallas/Fort Worth area to face the Allen Americans Saturday night at the Allen Event Center.

"Great game, great effort to battle back in the third," said Mavericks' Head Coach Scott Hillman. "They have a great home record and that's a big point to get from Texas. Scoring three goals in their building is not easy."

Hogg kicked off the scoring 4:22 into the opening period with a goal in front of the net. Patrick Schafer was credited with the assist on Hogg's ninth goal of the season. Hogg's goal stood up as the only goal of the first period, with the Mavs being outshot by the Brahmas, 10-7.

Andrew Lackner evened up the score on a power play goal seven minutes into the second period on a drive from the point. Chad Woollard gave the Brahmas a 2-1 lead with two minutes to go in the middle frame on a redirected shot from the point by T.J. Fox.

John-Scott Dickson evened the game up at 2-2 10 minutes into the third period on a from just inside the blueline. 30 seconds later, McGrane re-directed a Tristin Llewellyn slap shot from the point to give the Mavs a 3-2 lead, but the Brahmas evened things up. Just over seven minutes to go in regulation, Fox scored to tie the game at 3-3. Regulation ended in a tie and the two teams headed to overtime.

There was no scoring in overtime and the teams headed to a shootout. All five Mavericks shooters failed to score in the shootout and Adam Hogg scored the game-winner for Texas in the fourth round of the shootout, giving the Brahmas the 4-3 victory.

The Missouri Mavericks continue their roadtrip through the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, facing off against the Allen Americans on Saturday night before returning home this Sunday for an afternoon game against the Tulsa Oilers at Independence Events Center. Faceoff for Sunday's game is 4:05pm.
