Allen Americans News Release
Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans bounced back after Tuesday night's loss to the Mallards, with a solid effort in a 3-2 win Thursday night at the Allen Event Center.
The Mallards got on the board first, when rookie forward Jared Brown found the back of the net for his 23rd goal of the season and 61st point. The Americans would tie the score a little over five minutes later when Jeff Martens ripped one from the left wing boards, fooling Mallards goalie David Brown to tie the score at 1-1 after twenty minutes of play.
In the second, Allen would grab their first lead of the night when the newest member of the Allen Americans, defenseman Jake Newton, got in front of the Mallards defense and slid one past David Brown just inside the pipe to give Allen a 2-1 lead. Dylan King had the only assist on the goal. The Americans outshot the Mallards 15-10 in the second period
Keith Johnson extended the Allen lead to 3-2, as the Americans broke in on a three-on-one, Erik Adams dished the puck to Jarret Lukin who found Keith Johnson wide open in the slot for his first goal since returning from his injury and the Americans took a 3-1 lead. The Mallards cut the lead to 3-2 when the combination of Mickey Lang and Brandon Marino struck again, for the third time in two games, but that would be it for the Mallards. Marco Cousineau looked sharp in net for Allen making several big saves on the night and leading Allen to their 31st victory on the season, and a 3-2 win.
The Americans travel to Laredo for a game Friday night against the Laredo Bucks. Allen returns home on Saturday night at 7:05 PM, against the Missouri Mavericks.
