Mavericks Announce Fan Fest Schedule for Saturday, August 14

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks have finalized the schedule for the team's first ever Fan Fest this Saturday, August 14 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. All fans are invited to attend this free event.

10 a.m. Doors Open

10:15 a.m. Press Conference on Main Stage

11:15 a.m. Newest player and Bill Vandermeer question-and-answer session on main stage

12:30 p.m. Scott Hillman and Brent Thiessen Q & A session on main stage

1:45 p.m. Brett Hammond, Derek Pallardy and Simon Watson Q & A session on main stage

3:00 p.m. Fan Fest Concludes

At the press conference, Mavericks' President and General Manager Brent Thiessen will make a number of special announcements regarding the 2010-11 season including Adopt-A-Maverick, the Mavericks' Ticket Forum, the Filly's and more. Thiessen and Head Coach Scott Hillman will also introduce the two newest players signed by the Mavericks for the 2010-11 season.

After the press conference, The Examiner's Bill Althaus will host three separate question-and-answer sessions throughout the day. Althaus will begin each session with a short program before opening up for questions from the audience. After each session, the players will be available for autographs.

There will also be many booths and events for the whole family. The Mavericks will have a Kid's Zone with a bouncy castle, hockey shoot booth, obstacle course and video games. Fans will also have their opportunity to call the play-by-play action at the broadcast booth, take locker room tours, share their most memorable experiences and more.

The Mavericks will host locker room tours, a ticket forum demo booth and select-a-seat for fans wishing to purchase season tickets. Concessions and the Top Shelf Team Store will be open as well.

The Mavericks first annual Free Agent Showcase will be in full swing on Saturday, August 14 and fans are encouraged to attend at the community rink. The players, who are vying for a spot in the Mavericks' training camp, will be skating before and after the Fan Fest including a scrimmage starting at 3 p.m.

Centerpoint Community Ice Rink will also have an open skate from 12-2 p.m. and those that mention they are a fan of the Mavericks will receive a discount on a skate rental for just $5. Also, from 2-3 p.m. the rink is hosting a free Learn to Skate session.

The Missouri Mavericks will begin their second season in the Central Hockey League on October 15, 2010 against the Odessa Jackalopes at 7:05 p.m. The Mavericks play their home games at the state-of-the-art Independence Events Center where parking is always free.
