Mavericks Acquire Right Wing Geoff Walker from Reign

Independence, MO (January 22, 2014) - The Missouri Mavericks announced Thursday afternoon that they have acquired right wing Geoff Walker from the Ontario Reign in exchange for David Rutherford.

"Geoff is proven player at the American Hockey League level," said Head Coach Richard Matvichuk of the 27-year old, 6'3", 225lb, right wing. "He brings size, grit, scoring ability, and toughness to our lineup. We are very excited to get him into the lineup."

Walker has split his time over the past seven seasons between the ECHL, former Central Hockey League (CHL), and the American Hockey League (AHL), playing 42 games with the Syracuse Crunch (AHL) during the 2013-14 season, and 3 games with the Florida Everblades.

The Charlottetown, PEI native spent the first half of this season with the Reign, notching 12 goals, 14 assists and 31 penalty minutes through 35 games.

David Rutherford had scored 6 goals and 14 assists, and tallied 49 penalty minutes in a Mavericks' sweater through 35 games this season.

The Missouri Mavericks play their next seven games at home at Independence Events Center, beginning with back-to-back weekend contests against the Tulsa Oilers on Friday, January 23rd and the Quad City Mallards on Saturday, January 24th.
