Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced on Wednesday that Club Academy midfielder Matteo Schiavoni will be joining Italian club Bologna FC.
Schiavoni, who holds dual Canadian and Italian citizenship, signed a contract today with CF Montréal's sister club.
The 17-year-old was invited to CF Montréal's first team training camp last winter in Florida. In March, he also participated in the prestigious Viareggio Tournament, an international youth tournament in Tuscany.
"Following the tournament's conclusion, Matteo told us that he really enjoyed his European experience and that he wanted to pursue his career there," said CF Montréal Vice-President and Chief Sporting Officer Olivier Renard. "It is great that he has the chance to do so with our partner club."
Formerly of Lachine SC, Schiavoni made his Academy debut in 2019 with the U14 squad. He has also featured with the U15, U17 and U23 CF Montréal teams.
