Manchester, NH- Aaron Mathews went 2-for-5 with a pair of two-run doubles to lead the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a come-from-behind 7-5 victory over the Akron Aeros Tuesday night before a crowd of 5,295 at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. Mathews' second two-run double highlighted a three-run eighth inning, erasing a 5-4 deficit and giving Seth Overbey his first victory since April 27.

Overbey (2-0) faced one batter, striking out Brandon Pinckney with the bases loaded in the top of the eighth inning to earn the win.

New Hampshire (22-35) rallied against losing pitcher Scott Roehl (1-2) in the bottom of the eighth inning. Eric Nielsen (2-for-4, R) grounded a lead-off single to right, Anthony Hatch (3-for-4, 2 2B, 2 R) doubled to the left field corner and Ryan Klosterman (1-for-4, 2B, RBI) plated Nielsen with a ground out, tying the game 5-5.

After Akron (29-26) intentionally walked Scott Campbell (2-for-3, 2 BB, 3 R), Mathews ripped a double to deep left-centerfield, scoring Hatch and Campbell. With his second four-RBI game of the season, Mathews moved into a tie with Jacob Butler for the team lead in RBI (34).

Zach Dials worked around two-out, ninth-inning singles from Chris Gimenez (1-for-4, BB, R) and Wes Hodges (1-for-5) to earn his seventh save in nine opportunities when Bronson Sardinha grounded out.

The Fisher Cats took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning when Campbell led off with a single, Mathews reached on an error, Travis Snider (0-for-4, BB) walked and Butler (1-for-5, 2 RBI) lined a two-run single to left field off starter Frank Herrmann.

The Aeros trimmed the deficit to 2-1 with an unearned run in the top of the second inning against Brett Cecil. Matt Whitney (2-for-4, R) and Stephen Head (2-for-4) singled, and Ryan Goleski (0-for-3, HBP) reached on shortstop Ryan Klosterman's error, loading the bases. Brandon Pinckney's fielder's choice grounder plated Whitney.

Cecil worked a season-high five innings, scattering three hits and allowing only one unearned run in his longest Eastern League start. The left-hander also tallied a season-high seven strikeouts and walked one.

Mathews' first two-run double came in the fourth inning against Herrmann, driving in Hatch and Campbell for a 4-1 Fisher Cats' lead.

The Aeros battled back to take the lead with four runs on five hits in the top of the eighth inning against Jamie Vermilyea. Josh Rodriguez (2-for-5, 2B, RBI, R) hit an RBI double, Gimenez (1-for-4, BB, R) walked and Sardinha (1-for-5, HR, 3 RBI) drilled his first home run of the season, a three-run blast off the videoboard in right-centerfield that gave Akron a 5-4 advantage.

The Fisher Cats search for their third straight win when right-hander Brandon Magee (0-7, 5.90) takes the mound against Aeros' left-hander Ryan Edell (2-4, 4.72) Wednesday night at 7:05pm. Radio coverage begins at 6:45pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Mike Murphy.
