MATHES' MASTERPIECE SENDS REVS TO QUIET LOSS IN OPENING GAME OF ROAD TRIP

The Camden Riversharks shut out the York Revolution 5-0 Tuesday night at Campbell's Field in front of 4,287 fans behind a complete game effort from lefty starter J.R. Mathes. The series continues Wednesday night at 7:05 in Camden, NJ.

The Riversharks opened up the game putting York in an early 2-0 hole. With CF Jonel Pacheco slapping a single and 3B Lloyd Turner following that up with a double to lead off the first inning, they were both brought home when LF Noah Hall knocked them in on a single to left.

The Riversharks increased their lead in the third inning when Turner blasted a solo homer to left giving them a 3-0 advantage.

Camden went even further in front when a single from Pacheco to score DH Toby Hall gave them a 4-0 lead in the fourth.

The Riversharks took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a solo home run by 1B Brian Burgamy.

Mathes (4-4) earned the win, only allowing five hits (all singles) and one walk while striking out six. He allowed multiple base runners in an inning just once and has combined to work 17.0 scoreless innings over his last two starts.

York starter Dumas Garcia (0-2) took the loss in his second appearance for the Revs giving up four runs through his four innings of work.

Revs righty Shaun Garceau (2-5, 5.33) faces off against Camden's Federico Baez (6-4, 5.25) in Wednesday's game at Campbell's Field starting at 7:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350 and Shoutcast.com (WPDC) beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
