(Central Islip, N.Y., Aug. 10, 2011) -The Long Island Ducks defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 8-4 on Wednesday night at Bethpage Ballpark in the second game of a three-game series.

Bridgeport got on the scoreboard first with a RBI single by Steve Moss in the third inning off Ducks' starter Dave Williams. Long Island responded with five runs in the bottom of the frame off Bluefish starter Matt Pike. Run-scoring singles by J.R. House and Matt Esquivel, a bases-loaded walk to Kraig Binick and a two-run single by Dan Lyons highlighted the damage.

The Bluefish cut the deficit to two with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. A RBI fielder's choice off the bat of Angel Chavez in the fourth and a RBI single by Luis Lopez in the fifth made it 5-3 Ducks. However, Long Island gained those two runs back on a two-run homer to left by Matt Esquivel in the fifth. Matt Padgett's RBI double in the eighth capped the scoring for the Ducks.

Ehren Wassermann (4-1) picked up the win in relief, tossing two shutout innings, allowing just one hit while striking out two. Pike (8-4) took the loss after four and one-third innings of work, allowing seven runs on nine hits. Williams didn't factor into the game's decision, but allowed just two runs in four innings while striking out four.

House led the Flock with three hits, while Esquivel paced the team with three RBI.
