CAMDEN, NJ - The Camden Riversharks announced today that third baseman Pedro Feliz has signed a contract with the San Diego Padres organization. He will join San Diego's Class AAA team, the Tucson Padres, of the Pacific Coast League. Feliz is the second player from the Riversharks to be signed by San Diego this week, and will join outfielder Drew Macias in Tucson.

"Pedro's professionalism and class set an example for the entire league. He was a pleasure to have on the team while he was here," Riversharks Team Manager, Von Hayes. "We're happy that he has the opportunity to, hopefully, go back to the big leagues. Of course, we'll miss his offense and defense, but this is what the league is about."

Feliz spent the majority of his career with the San Francisco Giants. Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Giants in 1994, Feliz made his Major-League debut with the Giants in 2000 at the age of 25 and stayed with the club for seven seasons. His best season was in 2004 with the Giants when he batted .276 with 22 home runs and 84 RBIs. Feliz was also a member of the 2008 World Champion Philadelphia Phillies, where he had the winning hit in Game 5 of the World Series.

This season for the Riversharks, Feliz appeared in 72 games. He is currently leading the team in batting average (.298) and on-base percentage (.366); is tied for second in RBI with 45, and belted 11 home runs with the ‚¬ËœSharks. The 33 year old has had 22 hits in his last 24 games including a 16-game hitting streak.

The Camden Riversharks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Since 2001, the Riversharks have hosted all of their home games at Campbell's Field, located along the city's waterfront. The 2011 season, the club's 11th, is presented by Wawa. The Riversharks are in the middle of a three game series against York that will conclude Thursday, August 11th with Philadelphia Night at 7:05pm. The team provides a competitive baseball product, while maintaining an affordable family friendly atmosphere.
