Mateo Shines, Biscuits Shut Out Lookouts

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Victor Mateo (5-9) tossed seven scoreless-innings as the Biscuits (55-56, 18-23) picked up their tenth shutout of the season in a 7-0 win over the Chattanooga Lookouts (49-60, 14-25) Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Mateo worked around four hits and one walk to pick up his fifth win of the season. The Lookouts led off the fourth and fifth innings with doubles, but Mateo went on to retire the following three batters both times to hold Chattanooga scoreless. Friday was the fourth-straight start Mateo has thrown into the seventh inning.

Braulio Lara threw the final two innings to hold the shutout.

The Biscuits offense exploded in the third inning with six runs. Mikie Mahtook started the scoring with a two-run single. Kyeong Kang followed with a single that score two runs. Then Curt Casali drove in a pair of runs with a single to make it 6-0 Biscuits.

Shawn O'Malley added a run with an RBI-single in the sixth inning.

Game two in the series is Saturday night at 6:35. RHP Marquis Fleming will be on the hill for the Biscuits while the Lookouts will send RHP Duke von Schamann to the mound.
