Jackson Generals News Release

MOBILE, AL - Jackson had trouble finding offense in the series opener against Mobile as the BayBears (21-20) limited the Generals (18-20) to six hits and recorded a 5-1 win. The Generals' three-game winning streak came to a close at the hands of Mobile starter Archie Bradley, who notched his first nine-inning complete game. It was Jackson's first game in Mobile since losing the Southern League Championship last season.

For the seventh straight game Jackson has been involved in, there was scoring in the first inning. Mobile outfielder Justin Greene had three hits on the night and scored his one run in the first inning. Both James Gillheeney (L, 4-6, 4.10) and Archie Bradley kept things quiet through the next four innings. In the fifth, Greene did more damage. He singled in Keon Broxton as a part of a two-run inning. The BayBears grabbed one more in the sixth and eighth, securing the opening game of the series.

Gillheeney's night came to an end after 75 pitches through 5.1 innings. The left-hander gave up three earned runs on six hits, walking four and striking out only one. Forrest Snow (3.34) finished the sixth and worked the seventh as well, getting two strikeouts and not allowing any runs.

Archie Bradley (7-5, 2.06), the Arizona Diamondbacks No. 2 prospect, had his plus stuff working tonight. The right-hander went all nine innings, his first complete game, allowing the one unearned run on six hits. He struck out seven Jackson hitters.

Chris Taylor (3-4) was the only bright spot for the Generals offensively, hitting three singles. The BayBears were only 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

Game time Saturday night is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. (CT) at Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile. Jackson will turn to Roenis Elias (6-9, 3.01) and Mobile will give the ball to Andrew Chafin (7-6, 2.82). The game can be heard on 96.5 ESPN Radio, TuneIn Radio App. and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
