Louisville City FC News Release
After a lopsided 5-1 win on Wednesday in Harrisburg, Louisville City FC (12-4-5, 41 points) travels to the Sooner State to take on the Tulsa Roughnecks (9-9-5, 32 pts). The match, which is set to kickoff at 8:30 PM eastern time at ONEOK Field, will be an opportunity for Louisville to press for the top of the table and collect their fifth away win in a row.
Louisville heads into the game fresh off of one of their best performances of the season in the dominating win over the Harrisburg City Islanders. Matt Fondy was on fire with a brace in the books by the 13 minute mark. Aided by a goal from Kadeem Dacres, Louisville was up 4-0 at the half and Fondy had already completed a hat trick. Harrisburg got a within three on a goal from Jose Barrel, but Lou City would respond with a fourth Fondy goal. Enrique Montano chipped in three assists, and Guy Abend made his return to the field since an injury he endured back on April 4th.
Tulsa is also coming off of an impressive performance. A 5-1 win on Thursday night over Real Monarchs SLC was highlighted by three Roughneck goals in the second half. Cristian Mata found the back of the net twice in the contest. Tulsa's star striker chipped in a goal as well to help the Roughnecks jump to fifth in the Western Conference table.
The two teams have faced off already this season. A 2-0 Louisville win on April 25th was highlighted by a hail storm that hit just as the National Anthem was being sung. Matt Fondy got the hosts on the board first with a smashing header. Charlie Adams was sent off midway through the second half, but Louisville clung to their 1-nil lead until Nate Polak helped double the advantage in stoppage time. Fondy drove another header off the crossbar sending the ball to Polak who's shot deflected off a Tulsa defender and into the net.
