Roughnecks Soccer and Fireworks Saturday Night
August 14, 2015 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
FC Tulsa News Release
Less than 48 hours after completing one of its biggest home wins of the season, Tulsa Roughnecks will be back in action Saturday night at ONEOK Field, and the path to a USL Western Conference playoff berth will not get any easier. The Roughnecks will host one of the league's top strikers and one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference in Matt Fondy and Louisville City FC. Kickoff on Saturday is slated for 7:30PM in downtown Tulsa.
Both teams will enter the match after posting big victories earlier in the week. On Wednesday, Fondy scored four goals to lead City to a 5-1 win in Harrisburg. On Thursday, the Roughnecks got a brace from Cristian Mata and matched Louisville's score line with a 5-1 home win over Real Monarchs SLC.
The victory for the Roughnecks vaulted them into fifth spot in the Western Conference table, pending the outcome of Friday's Colorado Springs and Sacramento matchup. City are currently in second position in the East.
Tulsa will enter the match with a 10-9-5 record and on 35 points for the season. Louisville will come in with a 12-4-5 mark and with 41 points.
It will be the next-to-last home match of the regular season for the Roughnecks. A large post-game Fireworks Extravaganza is scheduled for after the game courtesy of 2 Works For You and Cox Radio. It is also Metro Tulsa Soccer Night.
The match will be broadcast live on Tulsa's Sports Radio AM 1300 with Jeremie Poplin, David Saunders and Andy Lorei calling the action. The broadcast can be heard online at 1300TheBuzz.com. It will also be shown live on the Roughnecks FC YouTube channel.
