Match Preview: Bethlehem Steel FC Hosts New York Red Bulls II this Wednesday
July 9, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Philadelphia Union II News Release
CHESTER, Pa. - Bethlehem Steel FC (5-9-4) will look to get a little bit of revenge and get back on track this week when it hosts club rivals New York Red Bulls II (9-4-4) at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester Pa. tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. ET. Last time out against Red Bulls II, Steel FC fell 4-0 at MSU Soccer Park. With that in mind and being at home, the Steel will look to turn the tables on New York and pick up points against their rivals.
The Boys in Blue fought hard on the road last week, as they fell 1-0 against a Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC team that has been steamrolling teams, including a 3-0 drubbing of Red Bulls II on June 22. The Red Bulls have only picked up two of their nine wins on the road, putting up an away record of 2-2-2 in 2019 so far. With team captain James Chambers notching goals in each of the club's last three home matches, this match could prove an opportunity for the Steel to pick up points against their rival.
It's been a little over a month since the Steel squared off against New York last, but the hosts know what to expect when Red Bulls II come to town. When the two sides played last, the Steel were missing key players to injuries (Saed DÃaz, Steve Kingue, Zach Zandi) and suspensions (Faris, Ben Ofeimu, Cole Turner). While they'll still be without DÃaz, the Steel have gotten healthier and have more of a squad to bring into this match. The first game is always interesting, but the second game in a series is when the chess match really begins.
The Boys in Blue square off against club rivals New York Red Bulls II at Talen Energy Stadium tomorrow night, July 10, at 7:30 p.m. ET. Fans can purchase their tickets here or catch all the action on ESPN+.
