Fresno's Elijah Martin Named to USL Team of the Week

FRESNO, Calif. - Elijah Martin became the seventh Fresno FC player selected to the USL Championship Team of the Week this season, earning the award in Week 18 for his performance at Sacramento Republic FC, the league announced Tuesday.

Martin provided the assist on the Foxes' game-winning goal, recorded two key passes and completed 26 of 31 passes overall while also winning 10 of 12 duels against Sacramento Republic FC.

This is Martin's first TOTW award this season and the third player in the last four weeks to be selected for the honor.

The other Foxes who have been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week in 2019 are: left back Alex Cooper (Week 1), midfielder Arun Basuljevic (Week 2), goalkeeper CJ Cochran (Week 3), forward Christian Chaney (Week 9), midfielder Jackson (Week 10), forward Qudus Lawal (Week 12) and Jemal Johnson (Weeks 6, 15 and 16).

Fresno FC (8-2-7, 31 points) sits in third place in the USL's Western Conference, and hosts seventh-place New Mexico United this Saturday, July 13 at Chukchansi Park. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.

All this week, fans can donate one book in exchange for a FREE child's ticket (ages 12 and under). Books can be dropped off at the Fresno FC front office and team store located at 1555 Van Ness Avenue in downtown Fresno, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, July 12. On match day, fans are encouraged to bring books to the stadium to donate.
