Martinez, Joseph and Bates Named OurSports Central UFL Players of the Week

Birmingham Stallions quarterback Adrian Martinez, D.C. Defenders cornerback Michael Joseph and Michigan Panthers kicker Jake Bates were named the OurSports Central United Football League Offensive Player, Defensive Player and Unsung Hero of the Week, respectively, for the week six of the UFL season.

Martinez earned Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year, completing 23 of 36 passes for 368 yards and four touchdowns, while adding 25 rushing yards on five carries in the Stallions' 39-21 victory over the Memphis Showboats.

Honorable mention goes to San Antonio Brahmas running back John Lovett who carried 23 times for 153 yards in their 18-12 loss to the D.C. Defenders. Another honorable mention goes to St. Louis Battehawks wide receiver Hakeem Butler who caught six balls for 134 yards and two touchdowns in a 22-8 win over the Houston Roughnecks.

Defensively, Joseph totaled 13 tackles, one pass breakup and one forced fumble in the Defenders' victory over the Brahmas.

Joseph played with the Chicago Bears from 2018 until 2022 before joining the Defenders last season where he was named to the All-XFL Team.

Birmingham Stallions safety Kenny Robinson earned honorable mention with four total tackles, one interception and one pass breakup.

Bates connected on a game-winning 42-yard field goal in the Panthers' 28-27 win over the Arlington Renegades, earning Unsung Hero for the second time this season with two game-winning kicks. For the day, Bates finished a perfect five-for-five on field goals of 43, 60, 29, 49 and 42 yards.
