TAMPA, Fla. - Kyle Martin collected three of the Threshers' five hits on Saturday, as Clearwater suffered a 4-0 loss in the series finale to the Tampa Yankees at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

The Threshers (19-10) took the series despite the loss, winning three-games-to-two in the battle between the top two teams in the Florida State League.

Michael Mariot had the start, making his third rehab appearance with the Threshers as he recovers from an ankle strain suffered in Spring Training.

Mariot (0-1) allowed a lead-off inside the park home run to the speedy Jorge Mateo, who pulled a hard grounder down the third base line, got a friendly carom off the side wall and past left fielder Cord Sandberg, and raced around the bases to make it 1-0 Tampa.

Following the homer, Mariot retired all six men he faced, striking out three of them.

Elniery Garcia entered the game in relief in the third inning. Scott Kingery, who had not committed an error in 26 games at second base entering play on Saturday, was charged with a pair of errors to open the frame. The lead runner Vicente Conde moved to third on a deep fly ball by Mateo, and Austin Aune's sacrifice fly made it 2-0.

Mateo did the damage in the fifth as well, after Conde singled to start the inning. With one out, Mateo laced an RBI triple off Garcia to left-center, and would score on a wild pitch.

Chance Adams (2-0) earned the win by holding the Threshers to just three singles and a walk in a career-high six innings. He also set a personal best with eight strikeouts.

Martin's ground-rule double to right-center in the ninth was the only extra-base hit for Clearwater.

The Threshers first baseman finished 3-for-4 and utilized all fields, with a single to left, a single to right, and a deep drive to the right-centerfield warning track for the ninth-inning double.

Clearwater will be off on Sunday, before the Threshers open a four-game series with the Dunedin Blue Jays on Monday night. Game one will take place at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium with first pitch at 6:30 p.m. Tyler Viza (4-0) takes the hill for the Threshers, and the call can be heard live on the Threshers Broadcast Network starting at 6:15 p.m.
