DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays (13-14) used two first inning runs and quality pitching to shutout the Daytona Tortugas (10-17) in a 2-0 victory on Friday night. In his second start of the season, RHP Brad Allen (W, 3-0) gave up a single hit while striking out five over his 5.2 innings to earn the win.

Dunedin's two runs came in their first two batters off of RHP Keury Mella (L, 1-4). CF Anthony Alford reached with a leadoff single promptly followed by a SS Richard Urena triple to left. With Urena on third, Mella was called for a balk, and that was the extent of the scoring in a game that took two hours and six minutes to complete.

Allen was relieved by LHP Jose Fernandez (H, 2) in the sixth who recorded four outs to get Dunedin to the eighth. LHP Tim Mayza (S, 3) took it from there to record the six out save.

All told, the Blue Jays surrendered just three base hits and a walk. They didn't allow a runner past second base. Allen has now made two starts this season. The first came during Dunedin's combined no hit bid where he took care of the first four innings. He now has thrown 9.2 innings as a starter and allowed a single hit.

Game three of this four game set is scheduled for Saturday night at 6:30 pm. A pair of lefties will don the mound with LHP Ryan Borucki and LHP Seth Varner squaring off.
