Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
DUNEDIN, FL - Six runs in the third inning for the Daytona Tortugas (11-17) were enough to take down the Dunedin Blue Jays (13-15) on Saturday night, 8-2. The Tortugas got to Ryan Borucki (L, 1-4) with three home runs as he could not get out of the third.
Borucki had a good fastball working early on that touched 96 mph, but the Tortuga hitters caught up with a few of them. 3B Taylor Sparks began the scoring with a two-run home run in the first. Two innings later, RF Aristides Aquino and 1B Avain Rachal went back to back to give Daytona a 5-0 lead. They would add three more runs in the inning after the first eight batters reached base.
Blue Jays' relievers were solid over the course of the final seven innings, not allowing a run, but the deficit was too large for Dunedin. LHP Seth Varner (W, 2-0) shut down the Jays over five innings, earning his second with of the year.
The final game of this four game set will be at 1:00 pm on Sunday. RHP Kyle Westwood takes on Teejay Antone with Dunedin leading the series 2-1.
