Mets Demolish Miracle, 15-5

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The St. Lucie Mets sets season highs in runs and hits as they demolished the Fort Myers Miracle 15-5 on Saturday at Hammond Stadium.

The Mets pounded out 16 hits. Every starter had a hit. No. 9 hitter Jhoan Urena led the way, going 4 for 5. It was his first four-hit game in the Florida State League.

Michael Katz went 2 for 5 and drove in four runs. His three-run homer with two outs in the first put the Mets up 4-0.

Amed Rosario went 2 for 5 with a double, walk, two runs and two RBI. Wuilmer Becerra extended his hitting streak to 12 games by going 2 for 5 with a double and two RBI.

Kevin Taylor scored three times and had two hits. Luis Guillorme drove in three runs, including two on a double.

The Mets scored four runs in the first and then broke the game open by scoring six in the third and taking a 10-0 lead. Most of the damage was done off Miracle starter Randy Rosario who allowed nine hits and 10 runs (six earned). The Mets also scored five runs in the sixth.

Mets starter Scarlyn Reyes earned his first win. He gave up 10 hits and five runs in seven innings.

The Mets finished their five-game, six-day road trip with a 2-3 record (one rainout in Bradenton). They took two of three from the Miracle and are now just half a game back of Fort Myers for first place in the FSL South Division.

Next Up: The Mets (16-13) are off Sunday. They return home on Monday to start a four-game series against the Jupiter Hammerheads. First pitch on Monday is 6:30 p.m.
