Reno Aces News Release
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Alfredo Marte tied his career high with five RBI in Sunday afternoon's game, as the Aces took a 10-7 win over the Salt Lake Bees at Spring Mobile Ballpark.
With the win, the Aces clinched their seventh series victory of the season. Tomorrow, Reno will look to earn its second series sweep.
The Aces chased off Salt Lake starter Billy Buckner after just 1.2 innings. Buckner allowed six runs on five hits, although just one of the runs was earned. Reno tacked on four more in the game off former Aces pitcher Barry Enright.
Marte went 2-for-5 on the night with a pair of runs scored. He drilled a three-run home run in the fifth, marking the first time this season he has homered in back-to-back games.
Chris Owings went 2-for-5 in the game with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored. He entered the game ranked fourth in the Pacific Coast League in batting average, .006 behind Tucson's Dean Anna.
Aces batters combined for 14 hits, with every position player collecting at least one hit.
After allowing five earned runs across the first two frames, Reno starter Nate Adcock threw three shutout innings to finish his stint. He advanced to 8-6 on the season, striking out five in the outing.
Reliever Matt Wright gave up a two-RBI triple in the sixth, but quickly settled down to retire eight of the next nine batters he faced. Wright recorded four strikeouts in the stretch, while allowing just three hits. Lefty Joe Paterson was credited with his first save of the season, throwing a perfect ninth inning to secure the victory.
The Aces' 2013 campaign wraps up Monday afternoon at Spring Mobile Ballpark. RHP Mike Bolsinger (6-7 4.50 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Bees will counter with a yet to be announced starter. First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. PT, and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
