Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons tallied 14 hits Thursday night in a 9-4 victory over the Chattanooga Lookouts in front of 7,106 fans at Regions Field.
The Barons wasted no time in jumping on Chattanooga starter Andres Santiago (1-4, 6.70), getting an RBI single from Kevan Smith and a two-run double by Christian Marrero to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
The lead grew to 5-0 in the third inning as the Barons loaded the bases and scored on a two-run single by Jeremy Farrell.
Marrero struck again in the fifth, collecting his second two-run double of the night to give the Barons a 7-1 lead and knocking Santiago out of the game. With two outs in the inning, he allowed a base hit to Chris O'Brien and walked Noel Cuevas. He was replaced by reliever Parker Frazier who promptly gave up RBI singles to Casio Grider and DarnellSweeney, cutting the Barons lead to 8-3. On the night, Snodgress allowed three runs on five hits over 5.2 IP.
However, the Barons offense was the story of the night as Smith added to his strong game with an RBI single in the sixth, making it a 9-3 Barons lead. Smith finished 4-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBI and a walk on the night. Meanwhile Marrero led the Barons with four RBI, going 4-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored. The 4-5-6 hitters of Rangel Ravelo, Smith and Marrero went a combined 11-for-13 on the night with seven runs scored and six RBI.

The Barons will look to make it a four-game streak tomorrow night as RHP Mike Recchia (2-0, 1.50) takes the hill against RHP Raydel Sanchez (0-3, 8.10). First pitch is schedule for 7:05 PM CDT.
