Morehead City Marlins News Release

Morehead City, N.C. - The Morehead City Marlins have announced the scheduling of an exhibition game as they host the Heroes of the Diamond on Wednesday, July 13 at Puck O'Neal Field at Big Rock Stadium for the second straight season.

Established in 1990, the Heroes of the Diamond are an all-star team of active-duty military members that travels the country on the Red, White and Blue Tour. The team plays up to 100 games each year against professional teams, summer collegiate squads, and other baseball organizations. They will play against the York Revolution - a professional independent league team in York, Pennsylvania - before traveling southeast to Morehead City to take on the Marlins the following day.

The Tour serves as an opportunity for the Heroes of the Diamond to promote the awareness of the sacrifices made by American troops around the world. When the Marlins welcome the Heroes, fans will have the opportunity to make financial contributions or donate care packages for soldiers stationed overseas.

Last season at Big Rock Stadium, Marlins fans were treated to a wonderful display of patriotism. Once again, this game will feature the Heroes of the Diamond's special pre-game ceremony, featuring a moment of silence and the team's "Passing the Flag" and "Walk of Honor" traditions.

"As an organization that greatly supports the United States men and women who serve our country, we are honored to host the Heroes of the Diamond for the second consecutive season", said Marlins General Manager Christopher Marmo. "This is much more than just a baseball game; it is a unique way to celebrate and to show gratitude for our brave soldiers. We are extremely excited to welcome back the Heroes of the Diamond to Big Rock Stadium, and it is definitely an event you do not want to miss."
