MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. - Eric Grabe delivered a solo homerun in the top of the twelfth inning, Danny Gesick followed with a two-run homerun, and the Fayetteville SwampDogs claimed a 5-4 victory over the Morehead City Marlins at Puck O'Neal Field on Tuesday night.

The SwampDogs managed just six hits in the game, but were helped out by 11 walks issued by the Marlins pitching staff. Fayetteville (21-11) had as many hits in the twelfth inning as they did the first 11 innings, but remains the only unbeaten team in the CPL South in the second half of the season.

Mike Hebert (1-3) pitched two scoreless innings to earn his first win of the year. The SwampDogs improved to 3-1 in extra inning games this season, and 5-2 overall against Morehead City (16-16).

Tommy Colton (0-1) came on for the Marlins in the eighth inning and allowed just the homerun to Eric Grabe, but that was enough to saddle him with his first decision, on the losing end. He was relieved by Kyle Wigmore after allowing a single to John Hogan, who then allowed the homerun to Gesick.

Fayetteville took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth inning after a bases loaded sacrifice fly by Billy Urban scored Zach Briggs with the go-ahead run in the top half of the inning. But Morehead City refused to go away quietly, rallying against CPL Co-Pitcher of the Week Cody Davis in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game on an RBI single from Chase McDonald.

The SwampDogs held a 3-1 lead in the top of the sixth after an RBI groundout from Briggs. But Morehead City first baseman Zach Stephens delivered a two-run double off starter Derek Brooks in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game.

Morehead City scored first after a triple from Joe Sclafani and a sacrifice fly from Danny Diekroeger in the bottom of the fourth inning. But the SwampDogs responded with two runs in the fifth, scoring on a Dylan Brown RBI single and a wild pitch from Marlins starter Christian Malbrough.

The SwampDogs return home on Wednesday to face the Wilmington Sharks on Hospitality Appreciation Night, with ticket specials for those that work in the hospitality industry. Gates will open at 6 p.m., with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. at J.P. Riddle Stadium.
