SwampDogs Cody Davis, Mike Anarumo Named CPL Co-Pitchers of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Coastal Plain League announced Tuesday that Fayetteville SwampDog pitchers Mike Anarumo and Cody Davis were named the Rawlings Co-Pitchers of the Week for the week of June 27-July 3.

Anarumo, a junior from LeMoyne, held a no-hitter into the eighth inning in his start on June 30 against the Edenton Steamers, the top team in the CPL. In eight full innings, he allowed just one run - unearned - on one hit in the game that clinched the first-half CPL South Division championship for the SwampDogs. The 6-5, 205-pound left-hander walked two and struck out five, holding the Steamers to a .038 average against to earn his third victory of the season.

Davis, meanwhile, appeared in four games and recorded four saves, pitching to a perfect 0.00 ERA. The 5-10, 170-pound junior right-hander from Tampa threw 3.2 innings, allowing just one hit while recording five strikeouts, including striking out the side in the ninth on Friday night against Columbia. He also closed out the victory over Edenton in which the SwampDogs claimed the first-half title, and on the season has a 1.12 ERA with 20 strikeouts and just one walk.

The SwampDogs are back in action tonight in Morehead City after having a day off on Monday. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. They'll return home for a two-game homestand beginning Wednesday as the SwampDogs host the Wilmington Sharks on Hospitality Appreciation Night. Gates open at 6 p.m., with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
