Marlins Reliever Recovering from Shoulder Inflammation

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Miami Marlins announced a series of transactions that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at Bragan Field at 7:05 p.m.

Right-handed relief pitcher Steven Ames has returned from his rehab assignment with the GCL Marlins and reinstated from the Suns' disabled list to Jacksonville's active roster. With the GCL Marlins in four games Ames was 0-0 with a 1.80 ERA, working five innings where he struck out four batters. Ames began the season with the Suns, going 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA before going on the disabled list on April with a right shoulder strain.

In a corresponding move, right-handed relief pitcher Casey McCarthy has been transferred from the Suns to High-A Jupiter. McCarthy pitched in five games for the Suns, going 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA in nine and a third innings pitched.

The Suns roster now stands at 24 active players, plus A.J. Ramos on his major league rehab assignment, and a revised roster is attached.

Tonight the Suns send right-hander Jay Rogers (4-2, 4.06 ERA) to the mound against Blue Wahoos right-hander Daniel Corcino (8-7, 4.40 ERA).
