
RH Angel Sanchez Promoted from Winston-Salem

The Birmingham Barons and Chicago White Sox have announced that RHP Angel Sanchez has been promoted from Class A Winston-Salem. In a corresponding move, RHP David Cales has been placed on the disabled list retroactive to July 15. Roster at 25.
Sanchez, 24, was signed off waivers by the White Sox on July 2 after combining to go 0-9 with a 7.04 ERA (48 ER/61.1 IP) and 36 strikeouts in 14 starts between Class AA Jacksonville in the Miami organization and Class AA Montgomery in the Rays system. In two starts with Class A Winston-Salem he went 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA (6 ER/12.2 IP).
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Sanchez began the season in the Miami organization before being claimed off waivers by Tampa Bay on June 13. He was designated for assignment by the Rays on June 30.
Sanchez enjoyed his best season with Class A Great Lakes of the Midwest League in 2011, going 8-4 with a 2.82 ERA (31 ER/99.0 IP) and 84 strikeouts in 20 games (16 starts).
He was ranked by MLB.com as the No. 16 Prospect in the Marlins organization entering the 2014 season and as the Dodgers No. 8 Prospect entering 2013. Sanchez originally was signed by the Dodgers as a free agent on July 12, 2010.
