Marlies Edge Bulldogs 3-2
December 26, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Toronto, Ontario - The Toronto Marlies defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-2 at Air Canada Centre on Wednesday afternoon. Mike Kostka scored the winner and added an assist while Matt Frattin posted three assists.
The Marlies opened the scoring at 4:48 of the opening frame on a goal by Joe Colborne. Paul Ranger entered the offensive zone and slapped a shot from the top of the left circle which was stopped by the left pad of Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins. The rebound came out to the right side where Colborne slid the rebound past a sprawling Desjardins.
Toronto took a 2-0 lead on the power play on a goal by Keith Aucoin at 14:08 of the first period. After the Marlies won the draw, Kostka slid a pass from the right point to the left point where Aucoin rifled a blast over the shoulder of Desjardins and into the top corner of the net.
The Marlies scored their third tally of the game on a five-on-three goal by Kostka at 19:04 of the second stanza. Kostka dished the puck from the point to Nazem Kadri in the right corner who feathered the puck back to Kostka at the point. Kostka then wired a shot which flew over the shoulder of Desjardins.
The Bulldogs got on the board at 18:12 of the third frame on a goal by Frederic St-Denis as he wristed a shot from the point which sailed over the glove of Toronto Marlies starting goaltender Ben Scrivens. Nathan Beaulieu banked a shot in off of Scrivens' leg with less than one second on the clock but it was not enough as the Bulldogs fell 3-2 to the Marlies.
