LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
Wednesday, December 19: Penguins 3, SENATORS 4...
A 3-0 cushion to begin the third period was not enough for the Penguins as the Binghamton Senators rallied to defeat Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in regulation, 4-3, at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
The Penguins started off strong as Warren Peters beat Robin Lehner 5:49 into the first and Bobby Farnham notched his first AHL goal later in the period. In the second frame, Philip Samuelsson also tallied his first of the season to make it 3-0.
Shawn Prince led the Senators' charge over the final 20 minutes with a pair of goals including the game-winner with 2:45 left in regulation.
Saturday, December 22: Penguins 3, CRUNCH 2...
The Penguins never trailed in their final game before the holiday break, edging the Syracuse Crunch, 3-2, at Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter.
Paul Thompson helped Wilkes-Barre/Scranton establish the early lead when he converted on the power play at 3:57 of the first. After Alex Killorn knotted the match at 9:21, Joey Mormina put the Penguins back ahead just 14 seconds later with his first of the year.
Trevor Smith potted the eventual game-winner midway through the second, registering his 10th goal of the season. Jeff Zatkoff made 29 saves to raise his record to 11-7-0.

The Penguins and Bears surpass the halfway point of their season series with the sixth and seventh meetings of the year. Hershey has dominated the early goings of the head-to-head match-up with four wins in the first five games. The Bears have gone 6-2-1 in their last nine contests and are in a tie for third place in the East Division with the Penguins. Jeff Taffe had a seven-game point streak (10A) snapped on Saturday.
Saturday, December 29, 7:05 PM: PENGUINS vs. Admirals - 102.3 the Mountain
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Norfolk face each other for the first time this season. The Admirals (13-13-10) are back at .500 for the first time since Nov. 17. They have gone 7-2-1-0 in their last ten since dropping nine of the previous ten contests. Peter Holland is tied for 11th in league scoring with 27 points (11G-16A). Norfolk has scored the second-fewest goals in the third period this season (19).
Monday, December 31, 5:05 PM: PENGUINS vs. Crunch - 102.3 the Mountain
The Penguins and Crunch take the ice for the third time in 16 days with game six of the eight-game season series. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton took the 3-2 series lead with a 3-2 win in Syracuse on Dec. 22. The Crunch (17-7-1-3) come out of the holiday break with the second-highest point total in the league (38). Forward Alex Killorn owns the longest current goal scoring streak in the AHL at six games.

- The Penguins snapped an 0-for-27 streak on the power play with Paul Thompson's goal on Saturday versus the Crunch.
- Bobby Farnham, Joey Mormina and Philip Samuelsson all scored their first goal of the season last week. Farnham's marker was the first of his AHL career.
- Jeff Zatkoff ranks sixth in the AHL with a 2.11 goals against average.

HYNES MOVES INTO TOP SPOT ON PENS' ALL-TIME WIN LIST...
With Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's win over the Syracuse Crunch on Saturday, Head Coach John Hynes earned his 116th win for the Penguins and became the team's all-time wins leader. Hynes moves past Glenn Patrick, who totaled 115 victories as head coach for the Penguins' during their first four seasons from 1999-2003. Now in this third year as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's head coach, Hynes needed only 183 games to reach the franchise mark for victories. He has compiled a record of 116-57-3-7.
