Fayetteville Marksmen News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.- The Fayetteville Marksmen, proud members of the Southern Professional Hockey League, defeated the Macon Mayhem 7-3 at the Crown Coliseum on Friday night.

The Marksmen set the pace early in Jason Pawloski's return between the pipes, giving him some offensive help just 2:14 into the game when Drake Glover banged home a rebound for his 14th goal of the season.

Fayetteville would not look back, never giving up their lead. Bryan Moore added some insurance midway through the period, and F.X. Girard would go coast-to-coast off of a turnover to make it a 3-0 Marksmen lead at the end of the first period.

Shane Bednard would add to the scoring party just 1:56 into the second period. Bednard's 9th of the year put the Marksmen in a spot where they had scored four goals on just 13 shots.

Macon would get one back with a Mikkel Joehnk powerplay goal midway through the frame.

While it seems the Marksmen would be unable to score through the remainder of the second period, they found a way to pound in two with Taylor Best tapping in a feed from Bednard and Zach Remers scoring his first of two.

Remers would score the final Marksmen goal in the game early in the third period.

Fayetteville did hemorrhage two goals late to Zak Lambrecht and Curtis Hansen, but the damage was too much for the Mayhem to overcome.

Pawloski earned his 13th win of the season and the Marksmen logged their 31st win of the year, tying the franchise wins record since becoming the Marksmen in 2017.

The two teams will close out the season series tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. on Rocky vs. Rambo Night. Tickets are still available when you skate to marksmenhockey.com and click the tickets tab.
