
Markel to AAA; McPherson Activated

KODAK, Tenn. - The Tampa Bay Rays have announced that RHRP Parker Markel has been promoted to AAA Durham from the Biscuits. In a corresponding move, RHRP Kyle McPherson has been activated off the disabled list.
Markel, 24, will make his first career trip to the AAA level. The right-hander was tied for the team lead in appearances (42) while going 5-3 with a 3.23 ERA. The Rays drafted Markel in the 39th round out of Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona in 2010.
McPherson, 27, spent the minimum amount of time required on the DL. The former 2011 Pirates Minor League Pitcher of the Year was signed by the Rays this summer. He is 0-1 with an 8.62 ERA in 11 appearances with the Biscuits this season.
The Biscuits active roster is at the league max of 25.
