Mariscal Belts Three-Run Bomb, Rainiers Fall to Oklahoma City in Series Opener

Oklahoma City, OK - Infielder Chris Mariscal throttled a three-run bomb that maintained an early Tacoma lead, but the Rainiers fell to the Oklahoma City Dodgers in the series opener, 7-4.

Tacoma (52-63) secured the first run of the game in the top of the first with a solo blast by Daniel Castro that put the Rainiers ahead by one. The infielder went 2-for-5 with his first home run of the season in the effort.

An inning later, Chris Mariscal launched his eighth blast of the campaign that kept Tacoma in the lead, 4-1.

Nabil Crismatt (0-4) made the start for the Rainiers and gave up the lead when he was charged with five Oklahoma City (53-61) runs across the first 2 2/3 innings before handing the ball over to Andrew Moore.

The right-hander came on with two outs in the top of the third and left an inherited runner stranded to end the inning. Moore tossed three innings of two-run ball and collected four strikeouts.

Right-hander Ryan Garton tossed 1 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball with one strikeout and Matt Festa took over on the mound in the bottom of the eighth, spinning a scoreless inning.

The Rainiers will play to even the series against Oklahoma City on Thursday. First pitch is at 5:05 p.m. PDT as Tacoma rolls out right-hander Mike Right (2-1, 3.72) to the mound to face Dodgers righty J.D. Martin (2-4, 4.08).
