Aces Continue Offensive Dominance, Win Game One in New Orleans

New Orleans, LA. - August has been kind to the Reno Aces and their offense. For the 12th time in 14 games, the Aces walked away with the victory and could be tied for second place in the Pacific Northern Division following the result of the Fresno Grizzlies game. The offense was on fire again tonight, totaling eight runs on 15 hits to defeat the New Orleans Baby Cakes by a score of 8-3. Josh Rojas raised his Aces batting average to .600 with a 3-for-5 performance and has recorded three or more hits in four of his five games since being traded to the Diamondbacks. Andy Young, the D-backs number 23 prospect, homered twice tonight and now has 14 this season. It's his first time in Triple-A with a multi-homer performance and fourth of his career. Joel Payamps was sharp once again as tonight's starting pitcher. Payamps went 5.1 innings, struck out four and allowed three earned runs to pick up his second win of the season. Reno will look for the series victory tomorrow night with right-hander Riley Smith scheduled to make the start for manager Chris Cron.

Roster Moves: The Reno Aces have continued their current trend of roster moves before today's game. Blake Swihart saw his rehab stint end and was activated by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Right-handed pitcher Connor Grey was transferred off the Reno roster to Hillsboro. Joey Krehbiel and Taylor Clarke were added to the Aces roster. Clarke made 14 appearances with the Arizona Diamondbacks this season, finishing 4-3 with an ERA of 5.46.

Hot August Nights: Reno is 5-1 since the calendar turned from July to August. The Aces have outscored their opponents 73 to 37 and are averaging 12.16 runs per game. They are batting .398 with 12 home runs, 21 doubles, and 69 RBI. Last month, Reno hit .294 and launched 48 home runs.
