AT THE DISH: The Mariachis recorded eight hits Saturday night, two each from Ryan Vilade, Rio Ruiz, Connor Joe and Jose Gomez ... Ruiz knocked in two runs while Joe brought home three ... Joe had a two-run double in the third to give Albuquerque a 3-2 lead ... Ruiz's sacrifice fly broke a 3-all tie in the seventh, then Joe immediately delivered an insurance run with another RBI double.
TOEING THE RUBBER: Dereck Rodríguez was solid on his 29th birthday as he made the start and gave up five hits and three earned runs in 5.1 innings ... Jack Wynkoop pitched two perfect innings of relief with three strikeouts and recorded his second victory of the year ... Chad Smith induced an inning-ending double play ball from Frank Schwindel in the eighth ... Justin Lawrence pitched around a pair of walks in the ninth to strike out Edwin Díaz for the save.
TOPES TIDBITS: 7,145 fans - the third highest attendance of the season - were on hand for the second Mariachis night of 2021 and postgame fireworks ... The start of the game was delayed 63 minutes by a pregame shower that hit the ballpark ... The team honored retiring University of New Mexico head baseball coach Ray Birmingham with a pregame tribute preceding his ceremonial first pitch ... Albuquerque's pitching staff allowed four runs or fewer for the eighth time in the last nine contests ... Las Vegas recorded only two hits after the second inning.
ON DECK: Insulated Lunch Bags will be handed out to the first 3,000 fans coming through the gates Sunday evening, presented by Smith's. The New Mexico Department of Health and the Isotopes will be holding a COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the ballpark throughout this entire homestand, with Pfizer shots being administered to anyone 12 years and older who hasn't yet received their vaccine. The vaccination clinic is for ticketed fans attending the game. Individuals who receive a shot will be given two Reserved Level ticket vouchers for any remaining 2021 Isotopes game, excluding July 4. Vaccines will be administered at Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 Club on Sunday, subject to change. RHP Brandon Gold (1-2, 6.10) will start for Albuquerque and the Las Vegas Aviators will go with RHP Grant Holmes (0-1, 11.07).
