Marcellus Named CHL Player of the Week

March 15, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

Tulsa Oilers captain Todd Marcellus has been named the Bauer/Nike CHL Player of the Week for March 8-14, the league announced today.

Marcellus, 31, scored 9 points (4G, 5A) in the final week of the 2003-2004 regular season, guiding the Oilers to a perfect 4-0 record to close out the schedule. He scored a goal and an assist in three of the four games, and added a goal and two assists in Tulsa's 8-4 thrashing of Oklahoma City last Friday.

For the season, the native of Chesterville, Ontario, led the team with 45 assists and finished tied for the team lead with Jason Bermingham with 74 points. He was awarded the 2003-2004 Oilers Fan Favorite Award, as well as the team's Offensive Player of the Year.

Tulsa finished the season with a 26-25-13 record, 65 points, good enough for a fourth-place tie with the Oklahoma City Blazers. The Oilers won their final four games of the season over Wichita (3-2 in overtime), Oklahoma City (8-4), Fort Worth (5-4) and Memphis (4-3). The victory over Memphis eliminated the two-time defending CHL champions from playoff contention, and put the Oilers over .500 for the first time since Christmas.
